Gold Coast Lady Anglers (GCLA) is a saltwater fishing club based in Ventura, California that includes women of all ages and skill levels. GCLA members come from a wide range of professions and backgrounds. Our mission is to have lots of fun, form solid friendships, and share our passion for fishing.
Who started the group?
Two experienced anglers, Jeanne Zappia and Jacquelyn Appel, met each other in 1999 and formed the club in 2001.
Does the group have meetings?
Yes. They take place over dinner in the evening of the second Tuesday of each month.
Where do the meetings take place?
Members take turns hosting the meetings.
Besides eating dinner, what happens at the meetings?
We share fish recipes and discuss fishing charters, fishing techniques, knot tying, and any other topic related to fishing. In addition, we look for ways to increase community involvement, promote our group, and support each other.
This sounds like fun. How can I join and what are the dues?
A member has to invite you to join which is as easy as getting in touch with us by filling out the form on the contact page. Effective January 2022 dues are $75/yr. for new members; and $55 for returning members.
The price of events and excursions is extra.
What if I've never fished before?
We welcome all experience levels. You'll learn hands-on while on-board from a combination of helpful club members and skilled deck hands.
What do I need to get started?
A pole, a fishing license, and Tackle, all of which can be purchased or rented from the boat.
What do I get as a member?
Having a big sale, on-site celebrity, or other event? Be sure to announce it so everybody knows and gets excited about it.
